As defined by NAGC-CEC Advanced Standard 1 and Substandards 1.1 & 1.2 for Gifted Education Teacher Preparation, the coursework completed in SPE 587 Special Populations in Gifted Education provides evidence gained through my Master of Education program of employing culturally and ethically responsible practices and understanding to guide in the shaping of gifted programing. Gifted education specialists should seek, obtain, and utilize a basic knowledge of the concept of giftedness along with the culturally and ethically responsible practices and understanding to guide the field of gifted education and the professionals involved in it. Cultural practices and values shape the role of the gifted and, therefore, their identifying characteristics. History records the fluctuating valuation of gifted individuals from representatives of ancient deities to the mentally unstable. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.Standard 1: Learner Development and Individual Learning Differencesīeginning gifted education professionals understand the variations in learning and development in cognitive and affective areas between and among individuals with gifts and talents and apply this understanding to provide meaningful and challenging learning experiences for individuals with exceptionalities. Must be able to work in an environment with multiple deadlines and priorities. Good visual and auditory acuity as well as good manual dexterity and the ability to be readily understood are essential. P HYSICAL DEMANDS: This position may require duties including lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds, sitting for prolonged periods of time, with frequent standing and walking. Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and the public and be capable of establishing good working relationships with both internal and external customers. M INIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and 0-2 years of related experience. QUALITY: Applies the standards of practice/performance in the work setting to achieve positive outcomes. Participation in specific activities for the promotion of self- growth or the enhancement of a positive image. ![]() JOB RELATED AND PROFESSIONAL GROWTH: Adheres to policies, procedures, guidelines relative to departmental operations. EQUIPMENT: Utilizes and operates equipment and mechanical devices which provide for a functional, effective, and safe environment. CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPECTATIONS: Demonstrates competencies in customer service and an understanding SimonMed Imaging code of conduct and culture. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures.
